Büyük canyon is carved with the engagement of Köprüçay river for
thousands of years. At the entrance of this wonderful and
surprising natural structure a bridge from Roman era links the
edges. Passage over the symbol of canyon, Oluk Bridge is
possible even with vehicles. The bridge which is built with
imbrication technique and passes over river 27 meters high is
dated to 2. century A.C.
The

the west and east bank of the edges even today is used for
passage.
Since
the bridge is built on a very strategic spot on the era’s most
important trade route, five guard towers had been built by
Romans to protect the bridge area. The ruins of this five
tower can be seen today and gave the area its name: BEŞKONAK
